Chestnut-breasted Mannikin
You find these birds in reed beds and long grassy areas in the north and north eastern areas of Australia. In the north they are nomadic but sedentary in the coastal east.
They occasionally feed on insects but their primary food source is grass seeds. Breeding can occur anytime but usually happens between September and February.
Males and females look similar with the female paler. Immature birds have olive brown underparts.
