Little Pied Cormorant
The Little Pied Cormorant is the most common of all the Cormorants. They can be found both on the coast and inland.
They fly strongly with their head held up a little higher than their body. As with the bird above and below they are often seen in urban parks.
When the birds feed on the coast they do so in flocks but when inland feed alone.
Fresh or saltwater are viable locations for this bird. They are classified as “abundant” and are found over pretty much the entire mainland Australia, both coastal and interior.
They feed on fish, crustaceans and insects and are quite spectacular in the water at times.
Their call is a cooing but give off a harsher call at or near the nest.
